Overview

Principefoods.com is a high end informational website for a premium Italian salumi brand.

The request was to redesign the legacy Principe website as the company had re-branded, and make it available to English, Spanish and Italian speakers.

In addition to the redesign, a better catalog of products was requested, and a recipe blog system to increase engagement with the site, and a store location system to serve as the site's main call to action.

Solution

We decided to use advanced page builder technology to allow the client to edit content within the site, and custom posts to facilitate the addition of products and recipes.

The design portion of the project was managed by our tech lead, in coordination with our trusted graphic designer, according to our formal design process to result in a hi-fidelity design which maximized the site's business value and minimized development costs.

We recommended to link product details to a dynamic store locator, to funnel site visitors to the main call to action and thus increase conversion. 

We also recommended automatic translation to make the site available to non-English speakers.

Implementation Details

The site was developed using WordPress with Elementor page builder, and hosted in AWS Lightsail.

The WP store locator system was integrated to facilitate the store location system.

Custom post types were developed to showcase Principe's product line and to facilitate the recipe system.

A custom carousel was developed with JavaScript to showcase products on the homepage.

An emailing system was developed using Elementor's forms system to allow site visitors to email recipes and blog posts to friends.

The site was integrated with Mailchimp to facilitate a mailing list with double opt-in functionality.

Single-click printing functionality was implemented to allow site visitors to print recipes and blog posts.

Custom filters were also implemented for the recipe system, since the client declined to use premium filters which otherwise would have been necessary.

An animated graphical timeline was developed using Elementor to illustrate the company's history.
