Overview
AthleteManagementCo.com is a marketing website for an independent sports agency.
AppSensibility managed the build of this website for Marín Design Agency using an iterative design process which involved a series of collaborative design and development sprints, in order to reduce development costs and project timeline while resulting in a high quality and highly converting design.
This client's main value propositions were expertise, an athlete-first focus, legacy-minded representation, and "Christ-centered integrity" as they market to members of the Christian religion.
The challenges in developing the website were to determine a mobile-first digestible way to present these offerings to the intended audience, and to present the client's own personality since he is the founder and primary agent of the company and also because his personality and values create the trust which sells this company's offerings.
Solution and Implementation Details
We decided to use the Salient theme which provides many high-end templates and animations, to enforce the perception of an elite, high quality brand, and quality of service.
Mobile versions of the site were kept minimal in order to convert the audience which consists of mobile-first users who we anticipated to have a low tolerance for excessive information.
The founder's personality and family values, and faith based proverbs, were presented in multiple places within the site to enforce the value propositions of personal expertise and trustworthy Christian values. An entire page was dedicated to the founder's personality, including links to personal social media sites, to reinforce this presentation.
A manifesto video reel was included on the site as a powerful marketing tool to engage the audience. Manifesto videos are a powerful marketing tool for any website, particularly for this audience who we anticipated to have a low tolerance for excessive textual information. We would generally suggest to embed video directly on a page, but this client specifically requested for it to pop up when links are clicked on the site.
The deployment of video within popups created a technical challenge since many browsers will prevent videos with audio from immediately playing this way, so we decided to pop up the video without auto-playing it, thus requiring the site visitor to explicitly click the play button within the video player after it has popped up on the page. Although this method of deployment is acceptable from a UX perspective, we generally recommend to embed video directly on a page instead of using this popup method, in order to create a more frictionless user experience, since only one button click is required to play video when it is directly embedded onto a page.
